Good morning, Soul. This day has been given you. Make of it the best you may. Waste it not. Despise not this gift. Life is precious. Learn to live.

Ecclesiastes 9 Commentary - Mark Dunagan Commentary on the Bible
"Whatever your hands finds to do, verily, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or wisdom in Sheol where you are going."

"Whatever….do it with all your might"-i.e. what you can accomplish, do! In the above verses, God isn"t advocating a drifting along, do nothing, addicted to pleasure attitude in life. There is work to be done, talents to use. "And at this time the brevity of life has become a spur, as it did our Lord when He spoke of the onset of night, "When no one can work" (John )" (Kidner p. 84). "Throw yourself into" (Mof).

Point To Note:

Eternal life is great, but that doesn"t mean that this earthly life doesn"t matter. God isn"t impressed by the religious person who attempts to justify their present laziness by saying, "I"m supposed to lay up treasures in heaven, not upon the earth", or, "I don"t need to plan for my physical future, because I just know that God will take care of me." God expects us to make the most of each day, to make the most of the physical blessings that we receive and to make the most of our marriages, families, human relationships and employment. Clearly, righteous people should be seen as people who love the Lord and love life, who have a zest for God and a zest for living. There should be no such thing as a boring, lazy, apathetic, or unmotivated Christian. God wants us to do everything with zeal and enthusiasm.

Life is desirable in order to serve God; that we may do so aright, we should seek to have our eyes opened to behold His truth, and earnestly desire fully to understand it.

1. Have looked a couple of times along streets between home and the office for possible rental options. It won't be an easy move from the office.

2. A number of people liked my Practicing Proverbs post for chapter 2. Someday I'll complete the whole 31 chapters, maybe.

3. Weight has inched up a bit in the last few days. Not a happy eater.

4. Had to go downtown this morning for a chore. Takes a while to get even a few blocks. Lights, traffic, pedestrians. Now I remember why I avoid going there.

5. Does anybody else out there ever eat a breakfast-type meal at night? It's eggs and bacon time for us this evening. And The Missus's zucchini and cinnamon bread. See Item 3 above.

6. An original item:
The rocks rose like warriors' spears,
Tree limbs snaked downward to heighten their fears,
Darkness dogged their faltering backs,
The jungle swallowed their souls and tracks.

7. A Bible verse:
Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.
Proverbs 12.20

Wow, it's been days since I check in here. A week or more. Time flies when you're getting old. After getting home from our US trip, our schedules filled up quickly. I missed a deadline for writing a text for a New Zealand project. The editor was kind enough to extend it, and I overcompensated by writing far beyond the word limit. Looking to make that into a separate stand-alone work, a booklet of sorts, with much new material added and two new sections, now titled, Stoke the Fire.

Anyway, with 747 incoming missiles to read, I'll mark them as read and start from today. Sound like a plan?

Well, I did make it through the whole of them.  I hadn't realized that it was actually three weeks of being away, instead of two.  Time really flies when work gets hectic!

Today's a holiday here. I went to the office anyway. Quiet on the streets. Found a place to eat lunch. Wasn't terribly productive, but better than taking more time off.

I lost my job last year. It was horrible, my world was turned upside down. But I got a new one. And I strongly feel I belong here. With these people and these tasks. There is a meaning. I am supposed to be right here, right now. I don't know why or for how long, but here and now this is right. And that word of today fit so perfectly:-)

So glad to hear that, Maria!

Cold and rainy this morning. List is long of things to do. Weigh-in today put me at lowest ever in years. Even my new jeans are a tad loose.

The bread/bakery store down the street is called Padaria Tentação II. It's the second one with this name. "Tentação" is temptation. I suppose they want to tempt you with their goods. Not so appealing a name, however, for whom temptation is something to be avoided.

Good morning or day or night to all! I'm sore all over after an intensive training yesterday afternoon. Moving slowly, but moving.

Two meets scheduled for later today, am fending for self what with Missus traveling for the weekend. Woe is me! Will I survive? :)

Time to scrounge around for some breakfast. I think I hear the padaria calling me.

Car took out in the street, overheated at a traffic stop. I quickly entered a one-way street (the wrong way), on a little plaza, and pulled over. Parked in front of me, a tow truck from our auto insurance company. God is good.

Signed contract to close in what Brazilians call the service area outside the kitchen. Will take up to 45 days. Will make it much nicer for Missus, especially when it rains.

Good workout today, sweated tons even in the nippy air. Car got left at mechanic's so he can check it starting in the morning. Office rent paid. Missed getting my weekly editorial written, however.

Moving late and slow this morning, but moving!

* Got the VOTD posted, next up, the Portuguese meditation. Then ... lessee what's on the list.

* Downed my almondshake, soon ready for phase II of breakfast.

* Headed for a meet in Taubaté this afternoon about the magazine.

The day holds good promise. Let's make it so!

Então, meu cel é ainda do tipo fliptop, lá do Séc. XX, hehe. Nada de internet ou app.

Sabe, li a respeito de um CEO que recusa a ter cellfone. Não é má ideia não.

Moving slowly this morning after a busy weekend, with lots of people time and food. But I survived, so we're inching forward. Was actually quite a good time with old and new friends.

I started some time back trying to characterize our years by some idea or phrase. This article got me to thinking about 2016:

http://theresurgent.com/2016-the-year-of-disruption/

But I don't think that "disruption" probably describes our personal life and work.
