In the past I greatly narrowed my focus of work outside the virtual world. Thinking that might be a proper course of action extended to the internet as well. Hard to imagine being totally disconnected, but mostly so is a thought to be considered.

Agora, email, sim.

EU (segundo eles provavelmente).

Two big moments yesterday, and I'm often getting to bed after midnight these days, which I don't like. But it was a good day overall, even if I did miss my workout. Late start today, for me, but my to-do list doesn't seem big. What am I missing? With big trip coming up next week, must be more to do that I have down. #life

Good day today, fairly productive, especially this morning, much of my to-do list done. There's stuff that didn't get crossed off, but I'm good with that. Three of the big items were accomplished. This was my first weekday to work from the new home office. Now, do I go work out tonight, or not? #work #life

Bread from the store was still hot enough to melt butter when I got it home. Earle Grey tea was perfect. Great start of the morning.

Copped out of workout tonight, too much exposure to noise, movement, people, all day long. Think I'll call it quits early tonight. #life

Two groups of workers here at the house today: one, in the attic, replacing our old water tank; the other, in the back, installing the modular shelving for my new #home_office. Saws, hammers, and other tools of their trade making havoc of my day. All for the good, however.

With the rain and cold, I lunched nearby, at pie store. Owners have become good friends. He sits, we talk while I eat.

I used to have all these great ideas I wanted to pursue. The list was long. Over time, I discovered I might get to one or two of them. It was time to relax. (God is in control. He might even use something of mine and weave it into his plan, for good.) So you can't do it all. But do something.

Times are when we must work in the fog, and slog through the mud, having only a general sense of the right direction and little notion of progress.

We don't do TV at our house, so we watched Brazil put Mexico away 2-0 at a compassionate neighbor's house. With lunch thrown in. We added stuff to the table, including the wife's brownies.

Mostly offline for the last week. Getting out of the cold and fog. Moving home office project forward. Big changes happening, mostly good, but requiring adaptation, flexibility. More lessons to learn.

Helped DD assemble a smallish dining room table. Now I remember why I never bought toys that had the label, "Some assembly required."

#life

I don't mind the assembly. What gets me every time is how badly the instructions were mangled in translation from either Swedish or Chinese. If you can find instructions that originated in your native language, it's usually not too bad; but countries that speak your native language stopped making furniture decades ago and are now importing it in flat-packs from Sweden or China.

All we saw were charts and numbers, no text. So maybe they're getting smarter about that.

Life is big - and long, hopefully.

Bigger than any of us, for sure.

I'm going for the long of eternal.
 Brazil,
Last year, while in the old home town, Mom gave me Dad's Cross pen. She had tried to give it to me earlier, soon after his passing, but it's thin and slippery, and I begged off. This time she just handed it to me. Seemed to want me to have it. So I took it. I've been using it, without too much problem. Has his name engraved on it, so now it's my name, I guess. (I have his first name.)

Good morning, Soul. This day has been given you. Make of it the best you may. Waste it not. Despise not this gift. Life is precious. Learn to live.

Ecclesiastes 9 Commentary - Mark Dunagan Commentary on the Bible
"Whatever your hands finds to do, verily, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or wisdom in Sheol where you are going."

"Whatever….do it with all your might"-i.e. what you can accomplish, do! In the above verses, God isn"t advocating a drifting along, do nothing, addicted to pleasure attitude in life. There is work to be done, talents to use. "And at this time the brevity of life has become a spur, as it did our Lord when He spoke of the onset of night, "When no one can work" (John )" (Kidner p. 84). "Throw yourself into" (Mof).

Point To Note:

Eternal life is great, but that doesn"t mean that this earthly life doesn"t matter. God isn"t impressed by the religious person who attempts to justify their present laziness by saying, "I"m supposed to lay up treasures in heaven, not upon the earth", or, "I don"t need to plan for my physical future, because I just know that God will take care of me." God expects us to make the most of each day, to make the most of the physical blessings that we receive and to make the most of our marriages, families, human relationships and employment. Clearly, righteous people should be seen as people who love the Lord and love life, who have a zest for God and a zest for living. There should be no such thing as a boring, lazy, apathetic, or unmotivated Christian. God wants us to do everything with zeal and enthusiasm.

Life is desirable in order to serve God; that we may do so aright, we should seek to have our eyes opened to behold His truth, and earnestly desire fully to understand it.

1. Have looked a couple of times along streets between home and the office for possible rental options. It won't be an easy move from the office.

2. A number of people liked my Practicing Proverbs post for chapter 2. Someday I'll complete the whole 31 chapters, maybe.

3. Weight has inched up a bit in the last few days. Not a happy eater.

4. Had to go downtown this morning for a chore. Takes a while to get even a few blocks. Lights, traffic, pedestrians. Now I remember why I avoid going there.

5. Does anybody else out there ever eat a breakfast-type meal at night? It's eggs and bacon time for us this evening. And The Missus's zucchini and cinnamon bread. See Item 3 above.

6. An original item:
The rocks rose like warriors' spears,
Tree limbs snaked downward to heighten their fears,
Darkness dogged their faltering backs,
The jungle swallowed their souls and tracks.

7. A Bible verse:
Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.
Proverbs 12.20

Sounds good to me, especially with eggs from your own cluckies.

Ditto here. We have more chickens than people now

Wow, it's been days since I check in here. A week or more. Time flies when you're getting old. After getting home from our US trip, our schedules filled up quickly. I missed a deadline for writing a text for a New Zealand project. The editor was kind enough to extend it, and I overcompensated by writing far beyond the word limit. Looking to make that into a separate stand-alone work, a booklet of sorts, with much new material added and two new sections, now titled, Stoke the Fire.

Anyway, with 747 incoming missiles to read, I'll mark them as read and start from today. Sound like a plan?

Well, I did make it through the whole of them.  I hadn't realized that it was actually three weeks of being away, instead of two.  Time really flies when work gets hectic!

You're a braver man than I!
